Strangest Coffee that People Actually Drink

Whether you like your coffee cold or hot, with milk or as frappe; every person has a different preference. Beside these usual choices from your local coffee shop, there are a lot of ways to prepare coffee around the world. It may not be your “cup of coffee” but it surely is something worth the try if you happen to visit a cafe that makes them.

  • Clear Coffee
    Made with roasted coffee beans and water, this colorless drink is another reinvention to americano without that teeth-staining color of a regular coffee. However, as it is mainly colorless, the taste of this coffee is so faint that you can barely notice that it is actually coffee.
  • Russian Coffee
    Coffee with vodka to kick-start an early tipsy trip or if you just prefer your caffeine with alcohol. As some vodka can be tasteless, adding coffee in it will surely make it better. However, this drink may cause hangovers.
  • The Metro
    Bubbly coffee in which the ingredients are espresso, vanilla, and sparkling water. This is a twist to the common watery coffee as what they call the americano. Sparkling water does not alter the taste of the coffee. However, it gives a little tingle on every sip.
  • Café Touba
    The addition of pepper to the coffee might not be common to others, but this is a traditional drink in West Africa specifically in Senegal. The coffee beans are roasted together with a pepper locally called djar. This coffee may help stomach ache as the pepper is known to have anti-inflammatory properties. It is a weird coffee yet beneficial.
  • Kopi Joss
    Just your regular brewed coffee, prepared normally until the barista just decides to add charcoal in your cup. The charcoal acts as an acid neutralizer that brings out a different taste to the coffee. Some say they prefer the charcoal taste more than the acidity of the coffee.
  • Kopi Luwak
    One of the weirdest coffee in the world yet the most expensive coffee, the Kopi Luwak. A coffee made entirely from feces of a feline called the Asian Palm Civet native in Indonesia known to pick up the ripest and sweetest coffee cherries and eat them. Once consumed by the civet, the now coffee beans are being picked from the feces and are roasted which gives the fruity taste of the coffee. Indonesia has a lot of bizarre ways to make coffee.
  • Egg Coffee
    A traditional coffee in Vietnam also known as Cà phê trứng. This is made with egg yolk, coffee powder, and condensed milk. This type of coffee is less acidic and the egg adds a creamier taste to the drink.
  • Nitro Cold Brew
    As the name suggests, nitrogen is added to the coffee through a machine that makes it much thicker in feel and adds flavor that can only be attained by adding this element. No need to worry as nitrogen is nonmetal and safe when mixed to food but should be done properly by experts.
  • Spiced Rose Latte
    Also known as Rose Latte is the epitome of sophistication. Just by seeing the garnish of dried rose petals and the pink color of this drink, will make you feel very classy at your brunch. The ingredients for this are espresso, milk, beet powder for that radiant rosy color. It is then topped with thyme, saffron and dried rose petals.
  • Butterfly Pea Latte
    This dreamy drink is made out of butterfly pea infused milk which gives the blue color of the latte. This is commonly served as is. However, some cafes add a shot of espresso on top of the drink. Butterfly pea is known to help ease inflammation and pain.
